The SeaI/O-687U makes industrial device integration simple by offering eight USB-to-serial ports in a single rugged enclosure. Designed for flexibility, its VersaCom RJ45 serial connectors transmit both RS-232 and RS-485 signals, enabling effortless field setup with zero jumper configuration. This saves valuable time during installation or maintenance.
Each port supports data rates up to 921.6K bps and is accompanied by TX/RX status LEDs. The adapter is powered by a 9–30VDC source and also supplies power to peripherals via pin 5 on each connector.
Using a host system’s USB port, the SeaI/O-687U emulates standard COM ports, maintaining compatibility with traditional serial software. Its state-machine design optimizes throughput across all 8 ports with minimal CPU overhead. For scalability, an RS-485 passthrough enables seamless expansion via up to 246 SeaI/O N-series modules.
